ALUMNI: June Gathering @ Souled Out
by atai @ 23:17 | Comments (9) | Filed under: gatherings

Guys and girls…

For June, the monthly Alumni meet will be held at Souled Out. Party will start at 1900hrs. It will be held this coming Tuesday evening - 6th June 2006.

If you are wondering why it is held on Tuesday night, do drop by and ask the committee members. All your questions will then be answered. ;)

Do try to make it there and give the Alumni your support. The Alumni is only as good as its members make it to be. We have to all give our support. So, see you there and hope you sign up as a member!

Also, I have been told by the president that the next activity after this Souled Out gathering will most likely be a friendly bowling game. More details will be announced there and then.

Mega Teh Tarik (Informal) Session
by atai @ 17:48 | Comments (2) | Filed under: gatherings

Here’s something from Dean…

***************************

Hello there!

I’m Dean M. Z. Arif, a committee member from SP Alumni, the students’ alumni for Sri Permata Secondary School or formerly known as Seaport Secondary.

We have recently reactivated the association and we would like to invite you for a “teh tarik” session on 9th May 2006, 8.30 p.m. onwards at Syed SS6 (the corner mamak restaurant on the same row as the old Giant Supermarket).

The objective of this session is to introduce the working committee members and our objectives, besides an opportunity to catch up with some old friends.

We would also be giving the ex-students an opportunity to renew orsign-up as members of our Alumni.

If you know of anyone in your year that you would like us to get in touch with, just email the name and contact details to me at deanarif@gmail.com. Alternatively, you can just forward this email to your friends.

I hope to see you there! Please reply to me soon to confirm your availability.

Thanks and warm regards,
Dean

A recent mini gathering
by atai @ 17:52 | Comments (20) | Filed under: gatherings

A few friends recently met up for drinks and to catch up with the latest gossips…

It was made special with the fact that Dr. Nicholas CHOONG was back in town. We were able to spend a few hours talking about anything and everything… Full of enthusiasm too, as evident from the next photo!

(by the way, the photos were taken with my new digital camera - Kodak V570)

Dean also took the opportunity to recruit more members for the alumni.

I guess we all had some fun. Till the next one… Whenever and wherever it will be…

Alumni AGM write-up
by atai @ 23:17 | Comments (20) | Filed under: gatherings

This is what greets you when you walk into the school:

My first thought was “Has the students from this school gotten that bad?”. Then I realised that the message could be meant for the teachers…

Anyway, somethings never change… Which is sometimes good… The canteen remains the way I remembered it…

Food has gotten better, I guess, from the menu that was posted…

Anyway, back to the AGM… In case you never realised, the Alumni’s registered name is actually - THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF SEKOLAH MENENGAH SRI PERMATA PETALING JAYA SELANGOR. *phew*

Good news is we’ve adopted a shorter name during the AGM - SP Alumni.

The turnout was rather bad, in my opinion considering that the school’s been around for more than 20 years and less than 30 people attended the AGM. Oh well, things can only get better.

We have a new committee and they seem very, very serious about getting the Alumni up and running. So I sincerely hope everyone here will give their full support as well. Like any society or organisation, they need our support - be it financially or morally. So do register as a member, ok?

Honestly, there’s not much to say about the AGM. The minutes should be up on the Alumni website in a week or two. It will probably be Zaifuddin’s first task anyway… Yes, Zaifuddin (or Dean) has been elected Honorary Secretary.

I guess that’s all for now…

Seen here are two ex-students saying to each other “Syabas kerana anda hadir ke sekolah”

Sing your way to 2006!
by atai @ 12:17 | Comments (6) | Filed under: gatherings

The present year will come to and end soon… What have you done in 2005? And what are your plans for 2006?

A few of us plan to meet up on the 2nd Jan 2006 (Monday). It will be at Star KTV (again?!)… In case you’re wondering, no… It is not that I really ‘hadap’ to sing. I just figured that it would be a good way to meet up. We get one room to ourselves… We can go crazy and no one can stop us (well, at least so far no one has tried). Plus, screaming is a good way to release stress.

So, the plan is to meet up at Star KTV at Bangsar Shopping Complex from 1400hrs (that’s 2pm). We should be there till about at least 1800hrs… Hopefully to be followed by dinner together.

Damage for karaoke is expected to be about rm45 per person. You will get 2 complimentary drinks.

However, you are adviced to make up your mind and inform Adrian TAI at 012 3315731 by 1800hrs, 31st Jan 2005 because he needs to book a room. The size of the room we will get depends on the number of turnouts. So please give him a call…

Spouse, kids, girlfriend, boyfriend, neighbour’s wife… All welcomed. Sorry, no pets.

Movie: Narnia (CANCELLED)
by atai @ 7:17 | Comments (8) | Filed under: gatherings

(updated on 23rd Nov 2005)
Due to extremely poor response, this event has been cancelled. As you know, the cinema operators require about 1 month notice/ confirmation. Since we do not have the quota to fill up the 100 seats or so, I have to cancel this.

(posted on 10th Oct 2005)
Guys and gals…

How would a movie gathering sound to all of you? I might be able to get the whole hall for the movie Narnia on the 17th Dec 2005 (Sat) at GSC 1U, 1030hrs.

Of course we will have to pay for it. But imagine… A cinema of friends and family. There will not be any discounts but we will have the whole hall.

I have asked around and the smallest hall we can get is for 100pax. Can we get that many? If we take the whole hall, we have to pay for all the seats. Appreciate comments

FYI, Narnia is expected to be a blockbuster and will be released on the 8th Dec 2005. Harry Potter expected to be released sometime end Nov 2005.
