Frozen in time…
by atai @ 20:32 | Comments (0) | Filed under: updates
It’s been more than a year since my last post here…
I just want to inform everyone that until the time comes, Friends of Seaport will remain ‘frozen’ for now. There will not be any new updates. If you are looking for a former Seaportian (or Sri Permatan?!?), you might wanna try Facebook… There’s a group for Seaport called Seaportians United.
While you’re in FB, you can look me up if you need more help looking for a fellow Seaportian. I will try my best to help… :)
Seaport reunion
by atai @ 12:10 | Comments (5) | Filed under: gatherings
I am thinking of ‘closing’ down this site since we have one on Facebook which is very active. If you are not on facebook, do sign up as it is FREE. And then join the group Seaportians United:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6842667082
Anyway, the school (now called SMK Sri Permata) is organising a reunion. Details are as follows:
Date: June 14 (Saturday) <-- That's tomorrow
Time: 0900hrs
Venue: Seaport/ Sri Permata school
Quoting the Facebook mail I received (which was sent on behalf of PTA vice chairperson):
"Dear Friends of Sekolah Menengah Sri Permata.
… This letter is basically addressed to all the friends of Sekolah Menengah Sri Permata. You are called friends because you have passed through this great school as a former student. You would have in one way or another benefitted from this institution be it in a big way or even in a small manner. By virtue of the fact that you have spent a great portion of your early growing up years in this school would have left you with lovely and fond memories. Though for some it may not be that pleasant going through some difficult moments with your most “hated” Geography or Mathematics teacher. But as you now reflect back you would certainly want to thank those “difficult and no nonsense teachers” for literally wanting to force-feed you with facts that is so unpalatable. Memories such as good friends who have helped you or challenged you to aspire to score better in your Chemistry paper or your most favorite Physics subject.
To all of you that we firmly believed make up the bulk of the Friends in the Face Book, we would like to invite you to join us, the Parents Teachers Committee and Teachers of your alma mater on this 14th of June 2008 to relive some of those wonderful memories and renew your friendships with your Friends. We would also on that day officially launch our Walkathon 2008 with the wonderful tagline “Walk For Comfort”.
We warmly welcome you.”
Now not only does the school have a website, they also have a blog (http://sripermata.blogspot.com/)!
In case you are wondering what is the difference between this and the alumni… I really don’t know.
Meet up with Jeffri
by atai @ 8:17 | Comments (0) | Filed under: gatherings
The meeting with Jeffri is actually this Friday instead of Wednesday. For those who would like to join, we will be gathering at Restaurant ABC near Desa Petaling @ 2030hrs (that’s 8:30pm) onwards.
I have attached a map. Click to download it.
Basically from Mid Valley, take the road that heads towards KL-Seremban highway. Once you reach the highway, head southwards (towards Seremban). Just keep to your left as you will need to take the ramp that goes to the commercial office and apartments (all on the left). This is just before the road bends to the right a bit and before you reach Sri Petaling.
Once you get on the ramp, you should see reach a junction with traffic lights. There should be a petrol station on your left. At the traffic lights, turn RIGHT. It’s a slightly uphill road. You should be able to see a few restaurants on your RIGHT. Restaurant ABC is located there.
I hope this helps… If you need further instructions, feel free to give Adrian TAI a call.

As for the gathering for another batch of Seaportians, sorry but the gathering was actually last weekend…
Jeffri Abu Bakar is in town
by atai @ 7:17 | Comments (0) | Filed under: updates
Just a quickie…
Jeffri Abu Bakar is back in town with his family. He will be here until the 12th April 2008. He is currently staying at his parent’s place in Desa Petaling. So if you still have the phone number, you can call him there. If not, leave your message here for him.
I’m planning to meet up with Jeffri for drinks on the 9th April 2008 (Wednesday). It should be in Desa Petaling. In the evening. Anyone interested to join me, please give me a call on my mobile.
Sorry, as usual, I won’t publish any phone numbers, etc unless the person has given specific permission or instruction. :)
Besides that, there’s been many updates and most are actually on Facebook. So yes, best if you can open an account in Facebook. I recall seeing a planned gathering for some Seaportians from a certain batch. It’s in Baywatch or something like that. Will post the details shortly.
Congrats to Kim Leong and Jane!

David has not got a baby sister now! Jane delivered a 3.58kg baby girl today @ 1421hrs. More details will be provided later when I bug Kim Leong…
But once again, congrats to Kim Leong and Jane!

by atai @ 22:17 | Comments (0) | Filed under: gatherings
As usual, our CNY gathering is always fun, fun, fun…

But this time around, we didn’t really visit that many houses. Actually, we only did two – Jude and Adrian. After Jude’s place, we were off to KFC for lunch. Then it was to Adrian’s place. I guess everyone had a good time with Wii!
Those who could join us this time around were Jude, TAN Eu Jin, George Alexander Hay, WONG Kim Chuan, TEOH Sin Ling, HOE Oi Lai, LEE Chin Ling, Derrell CHIN and Su Fei, LOK Chee Keong and Shu Hong (and daughter), THAM Wei Loong, Dean Arif and of coz, Adrian.
By the way, the above are just thumbnails… Fulll-sized photos will come later. :)

As with other years, we will have our ‘gather and visit’ event on the 10th February 2008 (Sunday). We will be gathering at Jude’s house around 1030hrs and will plan out the journey for the rest of the day there and then.
Please feel free to comment and indicate if you want to join or if you would like us to drop by your place. A thread in the forum has also been created for this purpose.
Hope to see you all there… Happy Chinese New Year… Gong Xi Fa Cai!

More photos to share…
Gigi was kind enough to provide me with these few photos to share with everyone here. They were taken end of last year.

A very lovely Christmas
Gigi is, of course, very proud of her vegetarian baby boy, Ivan Tan.

Isn’t he cute

Ivan Tan is 5 months old in this photo
As usual, feel free to drop Gigi a note or two at the comments section. It is now located at the top (just below the TITLE). FYI, Gigi is also on Facebook.
George Alexander Hay
by atai @ 21:57 | Comments (0) | Filed under: updates
Fondly known as Alex, George Alexander Hay found out about this site after he Googled for Seaport Alumnni (atai: Hmmm… I forgot to ask if he eventually found the Alumni site or not). He then started to post in the forum (atai: I wish the rest would do the same and keep the forum alive!).
Anyway, Alex says nothing much has changed except perhaps for his waist. He’s added some inches to it. Check out the photos below and you be the judge! Alex is currently working as a Business cum System Analyst for a team called Private Banking in a big IT firm fully owned by an overseas bank. In case you’re wondering what is ‘Private Banking’, here’s a description from Alex himself:
Some of you might will asked what is Private Banking, well, if you guys heard of Priority Banking, mine is one step higher. To qualify for it, you must have at least USD1 million in terms of cash, stocks, bonds, trust and etc. Currently this service is rollout in Singapore and Hong Kong. With the latest take over of American Express Bank, this service will eventually roll out worldwide. Here where I will do the merging of both databases.
During his freetime, he enjoys camping, mountain biking, trekking and etc. He’s still single but he’s not available. He hopes to meet up with the rest of the Seaportian gang. For those who wish to contact Alex, please leave him a message in the comment section (the link is now above) or in the forum.
Alex looking smart and aerodynamic…

Nope, he’s not getting married yet

Norazlan getting married (1993)
by atai @ 22:24 | Comments (0) | Filed under: updates
Better known as just Azlan, he’s informed me that he’s getting married this weekend. He’s also asked me to extend the invitation to the gang.
A few of us will be going to his wedding ceremony that will be held this Saturday. It will be somewhere near Assunta Hospital. Those who would like to join us (we plan to be there around 130pm till about 3pm), please contact Adrian @ 012 3315731.
No worries, I’ll snap some photos and post them here…
